Team In Training - Week 10
This was a pretty good week. Worked out everyday but Thursday. Swam, ran and weight trained during the week and ran 11.5 miles on Saturday with other TNT team members. The run on Saturday was my longest run yet. It felt really good. Ran from Nichols Hills Plaza down Western to 50th and then from Shartel to 4th and over to Broadway and back. There are some descent hills along the way so it's not all flat.
I would have to say that at 42 years old, I am in the best shape of my life. Even when I was 16 and running cross country track in high school, I could never finish a 3 mile meet without having to stop at some point and walk. But then again, I didn't really care. It's not like I was really running for a cause. It was just something to do.
Now I have swam 1 mile several times and have rode over 20 miles multiple times. I really need to increase my riding miles though and get closer to the 56 miles I'll have to do on race day. I've have a lot of fun so far and am looking forward to September 21st when all this training is put to the test.
