Health Dash 2015

A few weeks ago I ran a 10K in the annual Health Dash.  This year the proceeds benefited the Clinic on the Move with Good Shepherd Ministries.  This is a tremendous ministry that can offer health care to those that can't otherwise afford it.

It seems like after every long run I say it was my best.  Well, this one felt really good too.  This time I focused more on pumping my arms.  Your arms help propel you so by focusing on really pumping them, your run can be that much better and enjoyable.  What's also crazy about running are the range of emotions I go through while running.  Everything from why am I doing this, to man I think I need to go to the bathroom and I don't mean to pee, to why do people get up this early on a Saturday, to why are all these people passing me, to how many miles are left, to man I look good in these shorts (just kidding), to I think I'm going to die.  Then the endorphins kick in and you feel like superman or like you could run all day or that you're rocking this run and that all the pain is worth the gain.

I'm am nowhere near the fastest in my age group, but I don't do it to compete, I do it because I enjoy it and what better way to stay healthy.  I don't have anything to prove.  I'm 43 and I have completed a half Ironman, a full marathon, a half marathon and other smaller runs as well as Red Cross lifeguard certification.  Why?  I say why not.
