Spring Is Finally Here
Spring is finally here but I'm not quite ready for it. I really don't enjoy mowing our property because it's hilly, full of trees and more than 2 acres. Although, having the proper lawn equipment can actually make it a little more bearable. My lawn mower is down so I borrowed my dad's zero turn mower. It's fast, powerful and actually fun to use. I would actually enjoy lawn work more if we had a smaller yard. We are in the process of getting our house ready to sell so we can move into the city and be closer to Tyler's school and church. I want a small yard I can push mow in 30 minutes and get on with the rest of my day. I'm tired of acreage and all that comes along with it. We are so ready to downsize and not have our property own us. This will cut down on our daily drive times and allow Tyler to start driving to school.
My dad turned 70 last month. He remains stable in a nursing home. They thought he might have had a mini stroke a few weeks ago but his home health nurse checked him out later in the morning and he appeared okay. May have been a minor TIA. Being off all treatments, I really thought his cancer would take over pretty quick, but he's doing okay. My mom makes it over about every day to see him and stays through lunch. Please continue to pray for him and our family.
In anticipation of moving into the city, we had been looking for another church to visit and join. We started visiting First Baptist Church OKC a few weeks ago and decided to join last week. We were very impressed the first time we visited. Everyone was very welcoming. Our kids loved the youth pastor and his wife. We also really loved the history of the church. We thought it was interesting that they severed ties with the Southern Baptist Convention years ago due to the strict stance the SBC has on limited rolls of women in the church. This didn't bother us one bit. It's just funny how other Southern Baptists get hung up on how important it is for a Baptist church to be part of the SBC. I really don't care and I don't think Christ cares either. Let's just worship and serve Christ, spread his Word, love our neighbors and help the less fortunate and that's what FBC OKC is doing.
I haven't ran any marathons since last November. I'll be running a 10K this weekend in a fundraiser for our church's free mobile medial clinic. I plan on running the OKC Memorial Marathon again next month but this year it will be the half. I haven't had enough time to properly train for another full marathon. The half is not too bad. I just hope it's not as hot and humid this year.
